About the auction
– For the first time, an international auction house has organized an auction in the form of duplex – connecting the two points of Paris – Hanoi held in Vietnam.
– For the first time, the President of an auction house based in France directly controls the auction and hammer via an online screen. And even though it is only in the form of connecting, buyers could experience a professional auction space.

About the artworks
For the first time, a work by Tran Phuc Duyen was auctioned for 10.5 billion VND (including taxes and fees), a record for a lacquer painting by the artist.

TRẦN PHÚC DUYÊN (1923 – 1993). Riverbank. 1950. Lacquer. 80x200cm (8 panels x 25cm)

After a successful auction, some works and antiques from Millon (France) auction did not have to be moved between France and Vietnam. Therefore, the safety of valuable works of art has been guaranteed.

About the collectors
– Most collectors in Vietnam for the first time directly attended an international auction that complies with international auction law (France).
– Domestic collectors participate in international auctions without having to spend time and money on moving works between two countries.
– After completing the procedure, some of the works that were displayed in Vietnam were brought to the collector’s house. This creates a good psychology for collectors because they could enjoy artistic emotions in their own space without waiting.

About the results
For the first time, an auction specializing in Vietnamese Art of Millon achieved 1.8 million EUR. This is a positive signal for Millon to continue implementing the “duplex” method for the next auction specializing in paintings by famous artists of Vietnamese art, in July 2024.

After the auction is successful, the Vietnamese art market will probably have positive effects in collecting art works. Hopefully, in the coming time, the trend of investing in works of art will increasingly spread. Thereby, the value of Vietnamese culture will be elevated by Vietnamese people.
