Dalat, familiar place with many tourists. Its beauty has been captured many times on television, in photos, poetry, music, literature and fine arts. But, perhaps, with characteristic of intentionally creative visual language by the artist then Dalat was represented in a totally different perspective. Painting “Dreamy Dalat” of artist Ngoc Linh which Viet Art View introducing to you in this video is one of his very beautiful silkworks.
Artist Ngoc Linh born in 1930, the Tay of Lang Son. But he mostly lives in Hanoi. He is the most athletic student of Resistance Course 1950-1953, studied with 22 other students such as Mai Long, Tran Luu Hau, Le Huy Hoa, Trong Kiem…
When peace restored, he came to work at Vietnam Film Studio, designed fine art for more than 30 films. Also thanks to his professional characteristics, he had the opportunity to travel all over the country. Dalat is one of such places. He created the silkwork “Dreamy Dalat” in 1995.
Artist Ngoc Linh in life is a nice, fervent, generous person. In work he is an active, aggressive, hard-working, responsible person for his profession. In creation, he is movie designer of many famous film such as “Couple A Phu”, “She Dau”. His boldest personal mark in his film career is 2 Golden Lotus Awards for best art design. of “Star of August” 1976 and “Unbuilt wall” 1977.

Artist Ngoc Linh shared: “Memory of the painting “Dreamy Dalat”, cause I had come to Dalat four times. The forth time, I lived in HCM City and Dalat for 2 years. Along with the film crew “The case of Turtle Lake”, Ministry of Interior. I live 2 years in Ben Nghe, hotels in Dalat and HCM City.”
“I painted a lot in Dalat, but when drawing the Chicken Church in this painting, it was the Pontiff (the Vicar) that stood to look from the beginning to the end. He also asked and talked. People who take a tour in Dalat would remember this feature of Dalat…”
At the moment he is living joyfully, optimistically with his children and grand children in a pretty house on Hao Nam street. There it has been saved full of art documents and paintings he created. Artist Ngoc Linh still draws and paints daily. It is strong flame of love for art that he’s devoted his whole life for.
