This very rare painting was created by artist Nguyễn Trung in 1975.
NGUYỄN TRUNG (born in 1940). Zen. 1975. Oil. 80×65 cm. Hàn Ngọc Vũ Collection, Hà Nội.
At first, the painting should have belonged to a Collector named Tr. Due to institutional events (changes), the first owner had to rush to settle abroad, before he could get the painting.
Later, the painting belonged to “Mother Ánh”, a nun “of the line of originally hermit” in Sài Gòn. After “Mother Ánh” passed away, the painting was inherited by a family mamber, … to Vy Gallery, now the painting belongs to Collector Hàn Ngọc Vũ…
Thus, for nearly 50 years, ‘Zen’ has experienced a rich and interesting collection life.
Viet Art View dicussed with painter Nguyễn Trung about this particularly precious work. An artistic video about ‘Zen’ is in the process of being edited by Viet Art View’s program production department.

On the visit of Mr Dương Chí Dũng, representative of Shanghai Art Investment Fund, through profound discussions about Nguyễn Trung’s painting, Viet Art View realized that they have a multi-dimensional and great vision about the art investment of many generations of artists in Việt Nam.
The Fund started buying Nguyễn Trung’s paintings not long ago. But after only three or four years they had a rich collection. The Foundation currently owns the most Nguyễn Trung works (compared to other Nguyễn Trung collections). A book about Nguyễn Trung was also published by the Foundation in 2020. A very formal exhibition and press conference was held in December 2020 in Shanghai.

Vietnamese art has had a good foundation since the Indochina Fine Arts College opened its first class in 1925. Over the past 100 years, Vietnamese art has increasingly developed. Every interest, attention and investment of foreign investors is very appreciated, a good sign. But most important is still in Vietnamese art investors. They will help Vietnamese art enhance its value in the international art world with translational commercial milestones…
Thereby enhancing the historical, cultural and artistic values…
P/S: In the near future, many precious Vietnamese paintings in foreign collections will be auctioned. Currently, the auction market as well as the domestic market is also slow in liquidity… And this is a good opportunity for investors and art collectors to own valuable works at good prices.
