Referring to painter Tu Duyen, it is impossible not to mention two milestones in his painting career.
In 1952, painter Tu Duyen created the painting ‘Better be a demon of the South nation’, also known as ‘Tran Binh Trong’, with a special method – “hand-print painting”. With this technique, painter Tu Duyen is recognized by Vietnam and the world – the first person to have innovation in woodblock printing (Estamp resnové, Woodcut-printing renovation).
After that, the hand-print painting ‘Tran Binh Trong’ (one of 17 prints) and the painting ‘Study encouragement’, silk made Tu Duyen the first Vietnamese painter to have an American billionaire coming to his home (in Saigon) for paintings (before 1975). That particular billionaire was David Rokefeller.
