The painting ‘Mother and Son’, created around 1950, oil, 61×49.8cm with a starting price of 50-80K EUR was sold at Aguttes (France) on March 12th 2022 with a price of 220K EUR.
According to information from the auction house, this painting was in the collection of Mr. H.S.D. “Mr. D was born on April 15th, 1904 in Yen Huong, Tuyen Quang (Tonkin) and grew up in Indochina. He came to France in early 1920s and often associate with people from Indochina in Paris, he then opened a restaurant called ‘Hoan Son’ located on Monsieur Le Prince Street in Paris, where many compatriots came frequently. In 1950s, he obtained this painting of Vu Cao Dam and kept it all his life.”
