The work was originally one of three wedding gifts that artist Luong Xuan Nhi gave to the wedding of the children of a friend he was close to. This friend is the owner of a cafe in Hanoi. Many years ago, these works were given to the son of the family to keep. Currently, the painting belongs to a private collection in Hanoi.
Luong Xuan Nhi liked orchids, so he favored this flower with depictions in oil, silk, and watercolor.
With just a few dark leaves and a flower branch, the delicate flowers placed in a symmetrical composition, the intersection point is in the middle of the painting, shows the artist’s spirit of standard harmony.
The realistic style, both evocative and descriptive, without going too deep into details, very gentle highlights, giving the surface of the painting a rustic, benevolent vibe.
