Information about the model of the work:
In January 6, 2024, Viet Art View published an article titled “Work, beauty, speak, virtue of Hà Nội woman in Lương Xuân Nhị’s artwork”. This is a colored pencil drawing depicting a beautiful woman. The work was owned by the family of artist Lương Xuân Nhị, then transferred to an art collector in Hà Nội. To write about the beauty and personality of the character, Viet Art View began searching for documents about the model’s identity. Source from the artist’s family said that this is the wife of doctor Đặng Vũ Lạc.
Before being provided with the handwritten letter (recently found by the family of artist Lương Xuân Nhị), Viet Art View searched for information about Dr. Đặng Vũ Lạc but only found little information, from unofficial source and for reference only. By chance, Viet Art View learned the information “Doctor Đặng Vũ Lạc’s wife gave birth to her first daughter in 1924” from a close, trustworthy source. In fact, this information is correct.
After artist Lương Xuân Nhị’s family provided the handwritten letter, there was confusion about the model’s identity. In fact, the woman in the artwork is not doctor Đặng Vũ Lạc’s wife but his first daughter – Đặng Thị Ánh, born in 1924. After discussing with Mr. Nguyễn Kim Đan – son of the model in the artwork, Viet Art View would like to rewrite the biography of the model in the artwork – Mrs. Đặng Thị Ánh.
