If you love art but do not know all names of the artists have contributed to Vietnam Fine Arts, perhaps you don’t know Pham Ngoc Sy.

Pham Ngoc Sy (1944-2012) is a name familiar to students studying at Vietnam Fine Arts University, 42 Yet Kieu. Artist Pham Ngoc Sy, former dean of the faculty of Pedagogy, with artist Pham Hoc Hai (1942-…) former head of the Training department, Nguyen Luong Tieu Bach (1944-2012) former rector, working together, teaching at Vietnam Fine Arts University; and artist Truong Hanh (1944-2006), former director of Fine Arts Publishing House, made a close quartet in both personal life, work and creation. Four best friends have now gone to the other side of the world, together in peace.

The silk work will be auctioned at Asium on 1st April

Pham Ngoc Sy was a member of Vietnam Fine Arts Association, painting speciality. Highlights of his works: ‘Farming’ 1985, lacquer 90×120 cm; ‘Get warm by some fire’ 1992, lacquer 60×90 cm; ‘Down to market’ 1995, lacquer 110×130 cm; ‘Get the net’ 1999, lacquer 120×150 cm; ‘Flowers and scent’ 1989, silk 60×75 cm.

This work of silk which we do not have information, is about to be auctioned at Asium on 1st April, with a starting price of 200-300 EUR, along with other Vietnam artworks. Base on the signature ‘Ph. Ng. Sy’ (the photo was cut the year of creation), base on the painting ‘Get warm by some fire’ 1992, base on visual style, technique, in Viet Art View’s point, this is maybe the silk version of the lacquer ‘Get warm by some fire’ 1992 with the same theme by Pham Ngoc Sy. Many Vietnam artists created more than one work, in some different materials from one good sketch.

And with Pham Ngoc Sy, his fame and career, this work of silk, we may call ‘Get warm by some fire’ silk version, the starting price is very good.

Currently, in addition to ‘familiar’ Vietnam artists on international auctions, there are many artworks haven’t got the opportunities to be put on auctions, still scattered in family collections.

Hopefully, in the coming time, international auction houses should research more document information about genarations artists of Vietnam, many names are being interested by art lovers.
