Born in 1906, Nguyễn Tường Lân was educated at Indochina Fine Arts College in Hà Nội and was part of the first generation of famous artists studied at this school. After graduating second in his class, he opened a workshop, working with oil, silk and lacquer. His works have been exhibited in many exhibitions. In this rare silk painting, Nguyễn Tường Lân took the theme of young girls bathing in a sensual way. Two young girls have just finished bathing, one is combing her hair. The scene took place in the midst of lush nature, even making the viewer feel the typical heat and humidity of the countryside. The artist captured an intimate moment of life in the Vietnamese countryside. For this composition, the artist was most likely inspired by the works of French masters he studied at the Indochina Fine Arts College.
